Sabarmati Gas Limited (SGL) is a joint venture between GSPC and Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) to develop city gas distribution networks at different places in Gujarat. Currently, SGL has created or is in the process of creating city gas distribution infrastructure and CNG outlets in Gandhinagar, Mehsana and Sabarkantha districts.

City gas distribution
City gas distribution entails the distribution of gas to industrial and retail consumers within a city. It includes the supply of Piped Natural Gas (PNG) to industrial, commercial and household users. Taking off from where the gas transmission network ends, city gas distribution is undertaken through smaller pipelines and really provides the last-mile access to end-users.

CNG
Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) is an environment-friendly and economical fuel for the transport sector. Companies that are engaged in city gas distribution usually create a CNG infrastructure of refuelling stations and help establish suppliers who retrofit vehicles with CNG kits. This enables autos, buses and cars to convert to CNG and adopt a new way of life.
