| Gujarat State Energy Generation (GSEG) is an attempt
to go one notch up the energy value chain. The objective behind the
creation of GSEG was to generate power using GSPC’s key resource,
natural gas, thereby reaping the benefits of forward integration.
Being more eco-friendly than coal-based thermal power plants, a gas-based
power plant is also environmentally sounder.
GSEG built a 156 MW gas based Combined Cycle Power Plant at Mora, Surat within a record gestation period of eighteen months. Following its success, this project is about to be augmented by another 350 MW. Such a track record of the GSPC Group has also attracted a bigger project, the 700 MW GSPC Pipavav power project. |
